Lieutenant Colonel Bryan A. Eovito Commanding Officer, 9th Communication Battalion

Lieutenant Colonel Eovito enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 1993.  A Sergeant in 1997, he was selected for the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program.  He graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and commissioned in May 2000.

 

Upon completion of initial schooling, Lieutenant Colonel Eovito reported to the 3d Marine Regiment as the Information Systems Management Officer in September 2001.  In July 2002, he deployed with the Marine Security Element, Joint Task Force 510 and later Joint Special Operations Task Force – Philippines for Operation ENDURING FREEDOM - PHILIPPINES.  Upon redeployment, he reported to 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment as the S-6 Officer and Communication and Electronics Platoon Commander.  He then attended the Naval Postgraduate School where he studied the Joint Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence Systems curriculum.

 

In July 2006, he reported to the United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM) and served as the Department of Defense Strategic Satellite Communications (SATCOM) Manager for DOD Gateways (Standardized Tactical Entry Points/Teleports) and Commercial SATCOM.  In October 2007, he assumed duties as the Branch Chief of the USSTRATCOM Global NetOps Control Center, providing communications for the nation's strategic nuclear, space, and cyberspace forces during Operations BURNT FROST and BUCKSHOT YANKEE.

 

He assumed command of Company A, 7th Communication Battalion, Okinawa, Japan in July 2009.  After relinquishing command, he served as the Battalion Operations Officer.  In January 2011, he deployed as the J3 Director, Afghan National Army Special Operations Advisory Group, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force - Afghanistan during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  Upon redeployment, he served as the Executive Officer, 7th Communication Battalion.

 

In July 2012, he assumed command of Recruiting Station Jacksonville, Florida.  After relinquishing command in July 2015, he attended the School of Advanced Warfighting, graduating in June 2016. 

 

His previous assignment was as the Deputy AC/S G-5, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing.

 

He holds a Master of Science in Systems Technology from Naval Postgraduate School and a Master of Operational Studies from the School of Advanced Warfighting.

 

His personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (one gold star), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three gold stars), and the Army Achievement Medal.
