Injured Marines Golf for Recovery


The first group of injured Marines from Wounded Warrior Battalion West to participate in Operation Game On, were professionally fitted for new golf equipment at Taylormade the Kingdom in Carlsbad, Calif., Nov. 26. Tony Perez created Operation Game On January 2008 as a rehabilitation program for injured troops stationed at Naval Medical Center, San Diego. Produced by Lance Cpl. Anna Albrecht. Flight Training with Vengeance: Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469
Marines with Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 469, call sign "Vengeance," took part Tuesday in low-level terrain flight training at Camp Pendleton.  The squadron, which deployed to Afghanistan in 2012, consists of aviators, crew and mechanics who work with AH-1W Cobra attack helicopters and UH-1Y Venom utility helicopters.  MORE

Virtual training: Marines conduct Combat Convoy Simulator training
Marines from 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, take advantage of training provided by the Combat Convoy Simulator aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Nov. 21. The CCS is a virtual reality system that provides an immersive environment and simulates the operation of tactical vehicles in convoy operations.  The CCS center has multiple rooms outfitted with replicas of military vehicles with mounted weapons, surrounded by screens.  MORE

1st ANGLICO Marines conduct dry rollover egress training
In Oct. 2004 a Marine was killed in a non-combat related humvee rollover near Abu Ghraib, Iraq. The Marine was manning a machine gun when the Humvee swerved to avoid a barrier and rolled over, ejecting him from the vehicle.In May 2002, a Twentynine Palms Marine was killed and four others were injured in a rollover during a night raid exercise MORE

Corporal Diemtrinh Williams, a supply administration and operations specialist with 1st Supply Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 1st Marine Logistics Group, stands inside a supply depot aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Nov. 21. Williams immigrated to America when she was seven years old and settled in Salina, Kan., which she now considers home. Even though the 21-year-old Marine has spent more than half her life in the states, she still remembers her roots and uses it to motivate herself and the Marines around her.

Vietnam native leads Marines, never forgets roots
Corporal Diemtrinh Williams first heard about the Marine Corps in her high school history class. A native of Vietnam, the Corps and its history struck a chord in Williams that ignited her desire to enlist.
