General Amos personally presented the medal with combat “V” to Schlauder, who despite suffering injuries himself, rendered medical aid to Marines who were injured in an attack when their vehicle was struck by an armor-piercing, rocket-propelled grenade while on patrol Jan. 25, 2014.
