As the year closes, I Marine Expeditionary Force heads for the hills

While the rest of the world was preparing to ring in the new year, the Marines, sailors and soldiers of the I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) were headed for the top of Mutla' Ridge, north of Camp Commando, Kuwait.

Several hundred members put on their desert camouflage utilities, protective vests, helmets and carried various weapons on a seven-mile march that took them up and over Mutla' Ridge in an effort to continue conditioning and improve physical fitness.

The command element of I MEF (FWD), including forward elements of the 1st Marine Division, 1st Force Service Support Group, and 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, are deployed to Camp Commando in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
