'Combat cooks' feed MEF

28 May 2003 | Sgt. Colin Wyers

The Camp Babylon field mess cooks and messmen serve 1,100 meals twice-a-day to support the First Marine Expeditionary Force, waking before dawn to prepare breakfast and working until sunset to clean up after dinner diners are gone.

The I MEF Headquarters Group cooks, who have pitched in with drivers and security for the command element's move north into Iraq, provide a respite from Meals, Ready-to-Eat for the MEF, which commanded Marine forces in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
