Lieutenant Colonel Clinton W. Sovie commissioned in the U.S. Marine Corps from the United States Naval Academy on 18 December 2009, attending The Basic School from April to October of 2010. Following The Basic School, he attended the Logistics Officer's Course, graduating in February of 2011.
Upon completion of Logistics Officer's Course, Second Lieutenant Sovie reported to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for duty with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment (V16) where he served as the Motor Transport Officer, Afghanistan National Security Forces (ANSF) Logistics Advisor, and the Assistant Logistics Officer. While with V16, Lieutenant Sovie deployed to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM as the Battalion's ANSF Logistics Advisor and Assistant Logistics Officer. Lieutenant Sovie deployed again with V16 on the 22nd MEU in 2014 as the Assistant Logistics Officer.
In 2014, Captain Sovie reported to the Marine Corps Air Station, Camp Pendleton, where he served as the Air Station and Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron Logistics Officer. In 2016, Captain Sovie was selected to serve as the Aide-de-Camp for the Commanding General of Marine Corps Installations, West - Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. In 2017, Captain Sovie reported to the 1st Transportation Support Battalion, where he served as the Company Commander of Motor Transport Company A.
In July of 2019, Captain Sovie reported to the Marine Corps' Command and Staff College, graduating in June of 2020 with a Master of Military Studies. In June of 2020, Major Sovie reported to the Expeditionary Warfare School, where he would serve as a Faculty Advisor from 2020-2023.
In June of 2023, Major Sovie reported to the 5th Marine Regiment, where he served as the Regimental Logistics Officer. While with 5th Marines, he deployed to Darwin, Australia as the Marine Air Ground Task Force Logistics Officer in support of the Marine Rotational Force-Darwin 24.3. In July of 2025, Major Sovie reported to the 1st Marine Logistics Group, where he served as the Command Inspector General. In May of 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Sovie reported to I MEF Support Battalion, where he will serve as the Commanding Officer.
Lieutenant Colonel Sovie's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (gold star in-lieu of second award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two gold stars in-lieu of second/third award), and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in-lieu of second award).
