MSgt. Jennifer Scott

Master Sergeant Scott was born in Jefferson Parish, LA.  She graduated from John Ehret High School in 1998.  She joined the delayed entry program in January of 1998 and enlisted in August of 1998 designated as a Spanish Cryptologic Linguist.  Upon completion of boot camp and Marine Combat Training, she reported to the Defense Language Institute.  Immediately following the Basic Spanish Course she reported to the Marine Corps Cryptologic School technical training at Goodfellow AFB, Texas. 

In January of 2000 she reported to 2d Radio Battalion, Camp Lejeune, NC.  That summer she deployed with Joint Interagency Task Force-West, aboard the Coast Guard Cutter “Chase” in support of counter-narcotic and counter-immigration efforts.  In December of 2000, she attended SERE school in Brunswick, ME.  In early 2001, she served as a Cryptologic Operator on a 2d Radio Battalion detachment deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in order to test new cryptologic equipment.  In the fall of 01 she served as a Cryptologic Linguist at Fort Bragg, NC, in support of 7th Special Forces Group Counter-narcotic missions.

In the spring of 2003 she reported to the Defense Language Institute to serve her second tour in the Marine Corps as a Military Language Instructor for Spanish from 2003-2006.  During this tour she attended the Uniformed Victim Advocate course and served as the Marine Corps Detachment UVA.  She also served as the Marine point of contact for the Joint Worldwide Language Olympics in 2004.  After completing the instructor billet tour, she received orders to Company H, Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion at Medina AFB, TX.  There she served as a team leader in the Mexican Military Government and Narcotics Branch from 2006-2009.  MSgt Scott also attended the Substance Abuse Counseling Officers Course, as well as the Equal Opportunity Representatives Course, and served as both the Company SACO and EOR during this tour.

From 2010-2013 MSgt Scott returned for another tour 2d Radio Battalion.  For the first year she served as the Operation Control and Analysis Center Platoon Sergeant, the second year as Bravo Company 1stSgt, and the third she deployed with the 24th MEU as the 2d Radio Battalion Detachment SNCOIC.  In the summer of 2013 she transitioned to III MEF to serve as the MEF Signals Intelligence Electronic Warfare Chief until the summer of 2016.  During her tour there she deployed on several theater level exercises. 

MSgt Scott is currently serving as the Equal Opportunity Advisor for I MEF at Camp Pendleton, CA.  Her personal decorations include one Meritorious Service Medal, one Defense Meritorious Service Medal, one Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and one Joint Service Achievement Medal.
