Sergeant Major White is a Nashville, TN native and enlisted in the Marine Corps in July of 1994. He completed recruit training in October of 1994 at MCRD at Parris Island and reported to Camp Geiger for Marine Combat Training. Upon completion, Sgt. Maj. White was assigned to Camp Johnson for training as a Motor Transportation Operator. He graduated top of the class and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.
In February 1995, Sgt. Maj. White received orders to New River Air Station with Marine Wing Support Squadron 272. He was promoted to the rank of Corporal in November 1996. During his tour, he attended the Motor Transportation Refueler’s Course and was transferred to the Fuels section of the squadron. In 1997, Sgt. Maj. White was named NCO of the month for February and March then was selected as NCO of the Quarter.
In June of 1997, he received orders to Iwakuni, Japan to serve with Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 as an aircraft refueler. While in Japan Sgt. Maj. White participated in exercises throughout the Pacific area of operations, including Thailand and South Korea.
In August of 1998, Sgt. Maj. White reported into 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines at Camp Lejeune as the Assistant Motor Transportation Maintenance Chief and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in September of 1998. Sgt. Maj. White deployed to the Mediterranean with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit and participated in operations in Egypt, Israel, and Africa. Upon his return, Sgt. Maj. White participated in and won a series of boards to fill a billet in the II Marine Expeditionary Force Command Element as the Motor Transportation Logistics Coordinator for the Headquarters command element. He attended Campbell University’s satellite campus at Camp Lejeune and obtained his Associates Degree in Arts and Science in May of 2002.
In April of 2002, Sgt. Maj. White reported into MCRD Parris Island, SC for drill instructors school. Upon graduation, he served as DI and SDI with 3rd Battalion Kilo Company and completed a successful tour in July 2005.
Sgt. Maj. White received orders in August 2005 and reported to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion at Camp Pendleton, CA as one of the Motor Transportation Operations Chiefs. He deployed with the battalion to Al Anbar Providence, Iraq in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM 4-06 and 6-08. During OIF 6-08, he was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon when his vehicle engaged a pressure plate improvised explosive device. Sgt. Maj. White was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in Iraq on September 2007. While stationed with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion.
In June 2008, Sgt. Maj. White was transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 at Iwakuni, Japan as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant. During his tour, he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM to Yemen as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for a Military Transition Team.
Sgt. Maj. White was transferred to Combat Logistics Regiment at Camp Lejeune NC in August of 2011 to serve as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant. He was then able to complete his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management with the University of Maryland. During his tour, he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM to Afghanistan as the Redeployment, Retrograde, Reset and Reconstitution of the Forces unit Sergeant Major. Upon return in 2014, Sgt. Maj. White received orders to the School of Infantry- East, Infantry Training Battalion, Camp Lejeune as the Delta Company First Sergeant.
In November 2015, Sgt. Maj. White was selected to his current rank and was transferred to 2d Maintenance Battalion to serve as the Battalion Sergeant Major. On 13 Sept 2017 Sgt. Maj. White reported to Marine Air Support Squadron 3, Camp Pendleton CA. for duties as the Squadron Sergeant Major. Almost a year later, on 7 Sept 2018, Sgt. Maj. White met Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 164 out on their deployment to Kuwait in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE and assumed the responsibilities as the Squadron Sergeant Major. On 25 April 2019 Sgt. Maj. White returned to Marine Air Support Squadron 3 to finish his tour of duty.
Sgt. Maj. White’s personal decorations include Meritorious Service Medal with one star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two stars in lieu of third award, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
