Lieutenant Colonel Matt I. Bride

Lieutenant Colonel Bride hails from Oceanside, California, and graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2001. Lieutenant Colonel Bride reported to Officer Candidate School in the fall of 2007 and was subsequently commissioned as a second lieutenant. In the fall and winter of 2008, 2nd Lieutenant Bride graduated from both The Basic School and Infantry Officer Course.

In January 2009, 1st Lieutenant Bride reported to 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment. During his time at V25, Lieutenant Bride served as 3rd Platoon Commander and Executive Officer for Echo Company. 1st Lieutenant Bride also executed the billet of Police Training Team leader with Golf Company, V25. Lieutenant Bride’s deployments with V25 included two 31st MEU patrols where he participated in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations and one deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In the summer of 2011, 1st Lieutenant Bride received orders to Marine Combat Training Battalion, School of Infantry (West). At SOI, Captain Bride served as the Executive Officer for India Company. Captain Bride would subsequently take command of both India and Hotel Companies. After a successful tour, Captain Bride attended Expeditionary Warfare School in Quantico, Virginia. In May of 2015, he graduated from Expeditionary Warfare School and executed orders to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment.

In June of 2015, Captain Bride reported to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, where he served as the Headquarters and Services Company Commander. During this tour, Captain Bride deployed with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, participating in the planning and execution of training events throughout U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and U.S. Central Command’s areas of operations. During the deployment, he executed the Battalion Landing Team liaison officer billet in Djibouti, Africa, where he coordinated and executed training events for the BLT and MEU forces ashore.

Post company command, Captain Bride reported to Expeditionary Operations Training Group located at Camp Pendleton, California. Captain Bride served as the assistant exercise director for the Certification Exercise for the 15th MEU and as the Exercise Director for the Certification Exercise in support of Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force--Crisis Response--Central Command 17.2. In the summer of 2017, Captain Bride executed orders to Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. There, Major Bride served as the Operations Officer. During his time as the Operations Officer, Major Bride coordinated and planed training evolutions in order to gain mission-essential task proficiency in the deployment of the Division Combat Operations Center. He also worked closely with the Assistant Chief of Staff G-3, supporting Marine Expeditionary Force- and Division-level exercises throughout the AO. In the spring of 2019,

Major Bride was selected to be the Officer in Charge of Marine Detachment-Philippines 19.3. Over the course of this deployment, Major Bride was responsible for the aggregation, training, and employment of forces in support of INDOPACOM and U.S. Special Operations Command efforts within the Philippines AO. Major Bride worked closely with Special Operations Task Force 511.2 in support of this mission. Post deployment, Major Bride was selected to serve as the Executive Officer for Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division.

In July 2020, Major Bride executed orders to TBS, where he served as the Maneuver Section Head, responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of the events contained in the program of instruction. Major Bride would go on to serve as the Company Commander for Basic Officer Course 4-21 from May 2021 to November 2021. Major Bride would follow up his Basic Officer command tour by leading Warrant Officer Basic Course 1-22 in the capacity of the Company Commander. At the conclusion of his company command tour, Major Bride was hand selected to execute the dual billets of Combat Instructor Battalion Executive Officer and Warfighting 5 (Deputy Director of Warfighting). This subsequently led the Commander of TBS to select Lieutenant Colonel Bride to serves as the Director of Warfighting and the program of instruction at TBS.

After leaving TBS, Lieutenant Colonel Bride would go on to Headquarters, Marine Corps to serve as the Section Head for Ground Combat and Futures, Future Operations Branch at Plans, Policies, and Operations. In the capacity of this billet, Lieutenant Colonel Bride would manage, supervise, and integrate the manning, training and equipping efforts of the Ground Combat Element occupational fields in support of Service future mission requirements.

Lieutenant Colonel Bride assumed his current duties as the Executive Officer of the 15th MEU in July 2025.

Lieutenant Colonel Bride’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal w/gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal w/gold star, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal w/gold star.
