Colonel Frank P. Mease Jr enlisted in the Maine Corps in 1991 and attended recruit training at MCRD Parris Island. Following earning the title, he reported to the Presidential Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1). During his tour, he served as team leader and squad leader and was meritoriously promoted to Corporal.
In 1996, Col Mease reported to MP Company, 2D FSSG where he served as squad leader and platoon sergeant during deployments to Norway and Estonia.
In 1998, Col Mease reported to Drill Instructor School at Parris Island where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Series Chief Drill Instructor for Company I, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion.
In 2001, Col Mease was selected for the Meritorious Commissioning Program and attended Officer Candidates School in January 2002. He was commissioned in March 2002 and attended The Basic School and Infantry Officers Course in Quantico, VA.
In March 2003, Col Mease reported to 1st Battalion, 6th Marines in Camp Lejeune, NC, where served as a rifle platoon commander, weapons platoon commander and 81mm mortar platoon commander and deployed to both Afghanistan in support of Operation Mountain Storm and Fallujah, Iraq for OIF.
In 2006, Col Mease reported to Officer Candidates School where he served as tactics officer, staff platoon commander and company XO and subsequently attended Expeditionary Warfare School in 2009.
In 2010, Col Mease assumed command of G Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines and deployed to Trek Nawa, Afghanistan. Upon return from Afghanistan, he was assigned as Operations Officer for 2/8 and deployed again to the Helmand Province, Afghanistan in support of OEF.
In 2014 Col Mease was selected to command Recruiting Station Pittsburgh, PA and subsequently attended Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 2017.
In 2018 he reported to 1st Marine Regiment where he served as the Regimental Operations Officer and Executive Officer.
In 2020, Col Mease assumed command of 1st Battalion, 1st Marines where he led the BLT 1/1 with the 11th MEU to FIFTH and SEVENTH FLEET during a WESTPAC deployment.
Upon return, he assumed duties as Inspector General for the 1st Marine Division and was subsequently selected to attend the Marine Corps War College in 2024.
His personal decorations include the Bronze Star with combat distinguishing device, Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, Navy Commendation Medal with combat distinguishing device and two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with combat distinguishing device and two gold stars and the Combat Action Ribbon with gold star.
He has been married to his wife Michele for 28 years and they have one son named Jacob who is 15 years old.
