Sergeant Major Reginald Robinson enlisted in the Marine Corps in Memphis, Tennessee in 1988. Upon completing Recruit Training at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina, he attended the School of Infantry, Camp Geiger, North Carolina, where he was assigned the MOS of 0311. Subsequently he was transferred to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Marine Corps Security Force School, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
In January 1989, as a Private First Class, he was assigned to FAST Company (Fleet Anti-Terrorist Security Team), Norfolk, Virginia and served as a fireteam leader, squad leader, close quarters battle instructor and urban sniper/designated marksman instructor, where he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal. Deployments include Operation Just Cause; Panama, Operation Desert Storm; Saudi Arabia, and Operation Desert Shield; Saudi Arabia.
In May 1992, as a Corporal, he was transferred to Marine Security Guard Battalion, Marine Security Guard School, Quantico, Virginia, and upon completion of School, he was assigned to Cairo, Egypt and served as a watch stander, sergeant of the guard, training NCO, react NCO, and mess NCO, where he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He was subsequently assigned to Paris, France, for his second post, where he served as sergeant of the guard, scheduling NCO, react NCO, and training NCO.
In March 1995, as a Sergeant, he was transferred to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines, 2nd Marine Division where he served as squad leader, platoon guide, and platoon commander. He deployed to the Mediterranean Sea with Battalion Landing Team 2/2 (BLT 2/2) as part of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, Special Operations Capable [22nd MEU (SOC)] as the Landing Force Sixth Fleet (LF6F 1-96). During that deployment, he participated in Operation Assured Response and Quick Response in Defense of American Embassies in Liberia and the Central African Republic, from January 1996 to July 1996. As a Staff Sergeant, serving as Platoon Sergeant and Platoon Commander, he deployed to the Mediterranean Sea with Battalion Landing Team 2/2 (BLT 2/2) as part of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, Special Operations Capable [22nd MEU (SOC)] as the Landing Force Sixth Fleet (LF6F 3-98). During that deployment, he participated in Operation Silver Knight in Defense of the American Embassy in Albania.
In May 1999, as a Staff Sergeant, he was transferred to the Marine Corps Recruiting School, San Diego, California and upon completion of School, served as a canvassing recruiter and NCOIC at Recruiting Sub-Station Whitehaven, Memphis, Tennessee of Recruiting Station Little Rock, Arkansas.
In May 2002, as a Gunnery Sergeant, he was transferred to Alpha Company, 8th & I, Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., where he served as the Company Gunnery Sergeant and Company Drill Master.
In September 2005, as a Gunnery Sergeant, he was transferred to 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 2nd Marine Division as Company Gunnery Sergeant and Company First Sergeant, Bravo Company.
In February 2006, as a First Sergeant, he was transferred to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines as Company First Sergeant, Golf Company, where he deployed to Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07.2. Subsequently he was move to Headquarters and Service Company, as the Company First Sergeant, where he deployed to Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08.1. In August of 2008, as a First Sergeant, he was transferred to Cherry Point, North Carolina, as the Squadron First Sergeant of Fleet Readiness Center-East.
In July of 2009, as a First Sergeant, he was transferred to the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Fort Bliss, Texas, as a student of class 60, 1-09.
In July of 2010, as a Sergeant Major, he was transferred to Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 1, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan.
In March of 2011, Sergeant Major Robinson was transferred to Marine Air Support Squadron 2, Marine Air Control Group-18, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan as the Squadron Sergeant Major.
In June of 2013, Sergeant Major Robinson was transferred to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16, Marine Aircraft Group-16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, MCAS Miramar San Diego, California.
In January of 2014, Sergeant Major Robinson was transferred to his current assignment as the Sergeant Major, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, MCB Camp Pendleton, California.
Sergeant Major Robinson’s awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal with one gold star, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Nato Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas service ribbon, Marine Security Guard Ribbon, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with five bronze stars, Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon and the Army Superior Unit Award.
