U.S. Marines training in Phoenix, Noise Alert
8 Mar 2017

Marines and Sailors with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit will be participating in their second major field exercise of their pre-deployment training, Realistic Urban Training (RUT), March 6-18, in Phoenix, Ariz. and surrounding areas as part of its preparation for an upcoming deployment.

RUT utilizes the Ground Combat Element (GCE), Air Combat Element (ACE), Logistics Combat Element (LCE) and Command Element (CE) to plan, brief and execute complex operations that test the MEU’s ability to rapidly respond when given a mission. The land-based MEU exercise provides an opportunity to integrate each element’s unique skillsets as well as to develop the MEU’s collective proficiency in challenging, unfamiliar environments.
The 15th MEU serves as a forward deployed, quick response team, capable of accomplishing numerous missions around the globe.

The training will also take place aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms and Fort Irwin, California.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, residents in Phoenix may experience increased noise levels March 9-17, 2017.  For more information, please contact the I Marine Expeditionary Force Public Affairs Office at imefpublicaffairs@usmc.mil or via phone at: (760) 846-0356.
