Marines with Maritime Raid Force, 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct an air-inserted land-base raid on a combat town as part of the MEU's field training exercise aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., May 12, 2016. During the raid, the Marines inserted into the site via MV-22 Osprey and CH-53 Super Stallion aircraft and were tasked with retrieving a simulated high-value target and exfiltrating from the area hastily. MEUEX serves as the first major exercise of the 11th MEU's pre-deployment training cycle as they work toward their upcoming West Pacific 16-2 deployment.
