Marine Corps Base Camp Penleton, Calif. (July 13, 2016)—Marines with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment test equipment provided by the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, July 12-14, 2016 on Camp Pendleton, Calif. The equipment they are testing ranges from unmanned ground and aerial vehicles, new technology in expeditionary medicine, reusable energy and water purifying systems. The Warfighting Labs identifies possible challenges of the future and develops new warfighting concepts and tests new ideas to help develop equipment that meets the challenges of the future operating environment.

Marines with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment test the Multi-Utility Tactical Transport vehicle, or the MUTT, provided by the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory July 9, 2016 on Camp Pendleton, California. The MUTT will be used to help less Marines cover a greater area, provide expeditionary power and to give Marines superior firepower. Marines with Division Schools, 1st Marine Division, participate in a range demo involving autonomous, robotic human-type targets at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 18, 2016. The Marines had the opportunity to test out the robotic targets for possible future use in the U.S. military. The autonomous robots enable the Marines to get the best and most realistic training experience possible because it challenges them to identify targets and quickly react to their erratic movements in any given situation.
