U.S. Marine 1st. Lt. Hunter Harrison speaks about the sustainment training conducted by India Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Harrison is a platoon commander with India Co, BLT 3/1. The Marines of BLT 3/1 executed a series of attack and maneuver drills consisting of machine gun, grenade, rocket, squad and night attacks. Elements of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit are ashore in Djibouti for sustainment training to maintain and enhance the skills they developed during their pre-deployment training period. The 15th MEU is currently deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation. Backus is a radio technician with Headquarters and Service Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Music has influenced Backus to master any task he takes on and he uses it to inspire others on ship to do the same. U.S. Marines with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, conduct a short-range marksmanship qualification course aboard the dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47). Marines grappled for two minutes prior to going through the course of fire to simulate firing under stress and fatigue, which can occur in combat. The marksmanship course refined Marines combat marksmanship skills and incorporated the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, which reinforces the warrior ethos instilled in them.
