Marine Corps Base Camp Penleton, Calif. (July 13, 2016)—Marines with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment test equipment provided by the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, July 12-14, 2016 on Camp Pendleton, Calif. The equipment they are testing ranges from unmanned ground and aerial vehicles, new technology in expeditionary medicine, reusable energy and water purifying systems. The Warfighting Labs identifies possible challenges of the future and develops new warfighting concepts and tests new ideas to help develop equipment that meets the challenges of the future operating environment.

Marines with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment test the Multi-Utility Tactical Transport vehicle, or the MUTT, provided by the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory July 9, 2016 on Camp Pendleton, California. The MUTT will be used to help less Marines cover a greater area, provide expeditionary power and to give Marines superior firepower. The Warfighting Labs identifies possible challenges of the future and develops new warfighting concepts and tests new ideas to help develop equipment that meets the challenges of the future operating environment.

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. (July 13, 2016)—Marines with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment test equipment provided by the Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory, July 08, 2016. Twenty-six nations, more than 40 ships and submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 30 to Aug. 4, in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans. RIMPAC 2016 is the 25th exercise in the series that began in 1971.
