High Dive: U.S. Marine Recon and Japanese soldiers team up for Iron Fist 2017
U.S. Marines with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force and soldiers with the Japan Ground Self Defense Force conduct a Reconnaissance Swim Screener course during Exercise Iron Fist 2017, aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Feb. 6, 2017. The course was used to asses the JGSDF soldiers' skill set in order to properly integrate U.S. Marine reconnaissance techniques and skills during future training evolutions within Exercise Iron Fist. Iron Fist is an annual, bilateral training exercise where U.S. and Japanese service members train together and share techniques, tactics and procedures to improve their combined operational capabilities.
