Steel Knight 17 is a Division Level exercise encompassing live-fire ranges and simulated combat across the scope and scale of warfighting, enhancing the readiness and lethality of the 1st Marine Division in Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., Camp Pendleton, Calif., and Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Az.

Marines with 1st Marine Division train throughout the year to ensure that they can meet our nation's call when needed. Since 1941, the Division has fought and ensured the safety and security of our and allied partner. 2016 was a year that say our Marines in continual operations in the Middle East supporting Iraqi forces in the fight against ISIL, aboard the 11th, 13, and 15th Marine Expeditionary Units in the Pacific, and training for the future - making us the most engaged ground combat element in the Marine Corps today. MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- U.S., Chilean and Mexican forces explain why they're participating in Rim of the Pacific 2016 aboard Camp Pendleton California, July 9, 2016. The U.S. Marines conducted shore-to-shore training aboard assault amphibious vehicles to familiarize partner nations with the procedures of embarking and disembarking of AAVs. Twenty-six nations, more than 40 ships and submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 30 to Aug. 4, in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California. The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.
