PHIBRON-MEU Integration (PMINT) is the first of three pre-deployment training events for the ARG/MEU. PMINT aims to enhance coordinated operation between PHIBRON 5, the 11th MEU, and the three ships comprising the ARG — amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), amphibious transport dock USS Somerset (LPD 25), and amphibious dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45).

Marines conduct a Water Purification Training Exercise aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., April 29, 2016. During the training, Marines employ the TWPS (Tactical Water Purification System) and LWPS (Lightweight Water Purification System) to familiarize them with proper system usage and necessary troubleshooting skills in preparation for the MEU’s upcoming Western Pacific 16-2 deployment. The TWPS is capable of producing 600 gallons of purified water per hour and the LWPS produces roughly 400 gallons of water per hour. Both systems contribute to the establishment of a purified water checkpoint, which filters water pulled from a contaminated source and provides a small populace with clean, potable water. U.S. Marines with Marine Air Ground Task Force 5, conduct Integrated Training Exercise 2-16 at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif., Jan. 22- Feb. 18, 2016. ITX is a MAGTF sized training event led by the 5th Marine Regiment, to exercise units from across the Marine Corps, some which will forward deploy later this year with various elements to create the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Crisis Response Central Command 16.2, to meet their operational requirements across the range of military operations.
