11th Marine Regiment will celebrate its centennial with a battle colors ceremony honoring its history and heritage Jan. 9 at 9:00 a.m. at the Camp Pulgas gymnasium aboard Camp Pendleton. The centennial celebration will unite current and former Marines serving in the 11th Marine Regiment as they rededicate their battle colors with awards and campaign streamers from the regiment's campaigns including World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The regiment, commonly known as "Cannon Cockers" among the Marines, is the artillery regiment under the command of the 1st Marine Division

Force Multiplier: U.S. Marine MV-22B Osprey pilots with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 268 successfully completed their deployment with Marine Rotational Force Darwin on Sept. 17, 2017. This marked several mile stones for the aircraft, which included the first trans-Pacific Flight from Marine Corps Base Hawaii to Darwin, Australia and the aircrafts first deployment to the area. On this day in 1918, Marines with the 5th Marine Regiment, fought alongside U.S. Army, British and French forces against the German Spring Offensive at the Battle of Belleau Wood. Allied forces continued through enemy lines despite the sizeable forces they faced. The results of this battle helped shaped the Marine Corps into the fighting force we have today.
