U.S. Marines Conduct Weapons Cross-Training at Exercise Tafakula in Tonga

U.S. Marines with Company B, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force - Darwin, conduct weapons cross-training with troops from His Majesty's Armed Forces of Tonga, the New Zealand Defence Force, the French Army of New Caleonia and the Tongan ROyal Guard Sept. 2 at Talai Military Camp, Tongatapu Island, Tonga. The Marines are part of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force that is composed of an air, ground logistics and command element creating the MRF-D. The rotational deployment in Darwin enables Marines to more effectively train, exercise and operate with their partners, enhancing regional security an building a capability to respond more rapidly to natural disasters and crises throughout the region. Sustainment Training in Djibouti

U.S. Marine 1st. Lt. Hunter Harrison speaks about the sustainment training conducted by India Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Harrison is a platoon commander with India Co, BLT 3/1. The Marines of BLT 3/1 executed a series of attack and maneuver drills consisting of machine gun, grenade, rocket, squad and night attacks. Elements of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit are ashore in Djibouti for sustainment training to maintain and enhance the skills they developed during their pre-deployment training period. The 15th MEU is currently deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operation. U.S. Marines, Timor-Leste Defense Force Members Train Together During Exercise Koa Moana 15.2

Timor-Leste Defense Force members and a platoon of U.S. Marines with Company A, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, participated in Exercise Koa Moana 15.2 in Dili, Timor-Leste June 22 -26. The platoon of Marines conducted a bilateral exercise with one platoon of the Timor-Leste Defense Force’s land component of the naval force and one platoon of their Marines. The bilateral training included fundamentals of squad and platoon level tasks. During the exercise, Marines also engaged with in several community relations opportunities. U.S. Marines with Combined Anti-Armor Team 1, Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, and Australian soldiers with Direct Fire Support Weapon Platoon, 5th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, 1st Brigade, conduct bilateral live-fire training during Exercise Predator Walk, May 20 to June 5, at Mount Bundey Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia. The exercises included firing heavy machine guns and missiles at mock targets from a support by fire position. Exercise Predator Walk is a battalion-level combined-arms Marine Air Ground Task Force exercise with the Australian Army, designed to enhance the skills of the ground combat, aviation combat and support element. The Weapon and Tactics Instructor course (WTI) is a seven-week period of instruction, hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1 at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz, that incorporates Marine Corps planning and implementation of advanced air and ground tactics through a series of escalating evolutions in order to produce certified Weapons and Tactics Intructors. WTIs serve as squadron training officers who use their skills to act as aircraft and weapons subject matter experts to provide their units with proper training and evaluation to ensure exceptional combat readiness. First WTI Course of 2015 Kicks Off at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma

The newest group of students and instructors for Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course 2-15 just arrived at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Sunday, to begin the seven-week course. Hosted by Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One, the WTI class will be the largest class to graduate from MAWTS-1. Students will learn and apply the latest in air-to-air combat, air-to-ground communications and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief tactics. Highlights of WTI will include a scenario-based, Non-Combatant Evacuation Operation and multiple large-scale, combined arms exercises.

Marines with 1st Law Enforcement Battalion and Provost Marshal’s Office came together aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 14, 2015, to complete Oleoresin Capsicum (OC spray) training. This was part of a two-week course designed to qualify new non-lethal weapons instructors.
