LA Fleet Week 2018: Promotion Ceremony
U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Scott Sasser, a media operations officer with I Marine Expeditionary Force, was promoted aboard the USS Iowa during Los Angeles Fleet Week, Sept. 1, 2018. The residents of San Pedro, Calif. were invited to view the promotion as Sasser was promoted from a company-grade officer to a field grade officer. Commissioned officer ranks are subdivided into generals, field-grade, and company-grade officers. Through fleet weeks, the military gains the opportunity to educate area leaders and the general public about the Marine Corps and Navy. ( U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. Andre Heath)
