Alec Smith, a combat engineer with Mobility Assault Company, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division and an Elcho, Wis., native remotely operates a PackBot to place a block of C4 explosives for blow-in-place operations during Exercise Pioneer Express aboard Camp Roberts, Calif., Sept. 4, 2014.
