A Marine with I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) hugs his family as he waits to depart Camp Pendleton, Calif., to deploy to Afghanistan, Jan. 4, 2014. He is one of approximately 300 Marines and sailors who make up the I MEF (Fwd) command element deploying to Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I MEF (Fwd) is scheduled to return from deployment at the end of 2014 and is the last major Marine command to deploy to Afghanistan in support of OEF.
