U.S. and Brazilian Marines inspect the ground where a simulated improvised explosive device is suspected to be laid during the night portion of a counter IED bi-lateral exchange on Marambaia Island, Brazil, Aug. 5, 2014. The exchange was conducted in conjunction with combat tracking as part of a theater security cooperation event with the Logistics Combat Element of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South. Through close cooperation, the U.S. and its partners are ready to address transnational security challenges through integrated and coordinated approaches. SPMAGTF-South is currently embarked aboard the future amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) in support of her maiden transit, "America Visits the Americas." The ship is scheduled to be commissioned in San Francisco, Oct. 11. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Cpl. Donald Holbert/ Released)
