Capt. Chad O. Carlson shakes hands with Brig. Gen. David A. Ottignon as he receives his diploma for graduating the Expeditionary Warfare School, Dec. 11, 2015, at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. During the course, they discussed the current state of the Marine Corps as well as its future. Carlson and his fellow classmates learned about how plans in process now will positively affect the Marine Corps’ ability to complete its missions in the future. Carlson is a maintenance management officer with Headquarters and Service Company, 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion. Ottignon is the commanding general of 1st Marine Logistics Group.
