U.S. Marines with Marine Air Control Group 38, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin 25.3, deconflicted airspace as the U.S. Army’s 3rd Multi-Domain Task Force conducted the first Mid-Range Capability live-fire exercise outside the continental United States, successfully sinking a maritime target with a Standard Missile-6 during Exercise Talisman Sabre 25 in the Northern Territory, Australia, July 16, 2025. The successful strike validated combined joint targeting and command-and-control interoperability between 3MDTF and the joint force. Talisman Sabre is the largest bilateral military exercise between Australia and the United States advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific by strengthening relationships and interoperability among key allies and partners, while enhancing our collective capabilities to respond to a wide array of potential security concerns. Marine Rotational Force – Darwin 25.3 is an annual six-month rotational deployment to enhance interoperability with the Australian Defence Force and provide a forward postured crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific.
