Montford Point Marines receive a standing ovation as they are honored for their sacrifices made in helping to pave the way for minorities in the armed forces at the 54th Annual Armed Forces Day Celebration and Parade at Torrance, Calif., May 18. The Montford Point Marines were the first African-Americans to enlist in the Marine Corps.
