Col. B Rideout

Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Colonel Rideout earned a baccalaureate degree in Psychology from Ohio Wesleyan University prior to being commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1995.  Upon completing The Basic School, Infantry Officer Course, and the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence Officer Course (Fort Huachuca, AZ), he transferred to 1st Marine Division for duty as a Target Intelligence Officer with the G2.  Shortly thereafter, Colonel Rideout assumed command of the Scout/Sniper Platoon, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines where he also served as Executive Officer, Headquarters & Service Company.  In 1998, 2/4 deployed to the Persian Gulf with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in support of Operation DESERT FOX.  During this deployment, Colonel Rideout concurrently served as the MEU Reconnaissance & Surveillance Coordinator.

In 1999, Colonel Rideout was selected to write and subsequently direct the newly formed Ground Intelligence Officer Course (Damneck, VA).  He trained over 100 Lieutenants before returning to Camp Pendleton as the Intelligence Officer, 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.  In 2003, Colonel Rideout took command of Company C, 1st Recon Bn, during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.  In 2005, he served as the Operations Officer, 1st Marine Division G2 prior to attending The Naval Postgraduate School (Monterey, CA) where he earned a Master of Science in Information Technology Management.  In his payback tour with Marine Corps Systems Command (Quantico, VA), Colonel Rideout led the Geospatial and Imagery Intelligence Teams, established the inaugural Rapid Prototyping Team, and was certified a Level-III Program Manager in Acquisitions.

Colonel Rideout graduated Marine Corps Command & Staff and earned a Master of Military Studies before assuming duties as Plans Officer, III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), G2.  In 2012, he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM-PHILIPPINES as the Chief of Staff and Chief of Targets for Joint Special Operations Task Force-Philippines.  Upon return, Colonel Rideout served as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, G2, III MEF before taking Command of 3rd Marine Raider Support Battalion, Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command.  Post-command, Colonel Rideout earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College (Newport, RI).


Colonel Rideout recently completed a joint tour with U.S. Africa Command (Stuttgart, Germany) where he served as Chief of Targets and Chief of Intelligence Operations. He is  married to his longtime sweetheart, and blessed with three wonderful children.
