Commanding Officer, 1st Intelligence Battalion
Lt. Col. Thomas A. Kulisz

Lieutenant Colonel Kulisz was born in Edina, MN.  He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and commissioned in the Marine Corps in 2005.  After attending TBS in 2006, he reported to 2d Intel Bn as a CI/HUMINT Officer.  He deployed in 2007 (Africa) and 2008-2009 (Iraq) as a HUMINT Exploitation Team OIC.  In 2009, he reported to MARDET, Dam Neck, to serve as an instructor for the MAGTF Intelligence Officers Course. In 2011, he assumed command of CI/HUMINT Training Company. 

In 2012, Lieutenant Colonel Kulisz reported to MARSOC to serve as Intelligence Company XO, Marine Special Operations Combat Support Bn.  In 2013, he deployed to Africa and returned in 2014 to assume the role of 3d Marine Special Operations Support Bn Operations Officer. 

In 2015, he reported to Naval Postgraduate School to study Information Warfare Systems Engineering.  After graduating in 2017, he reported to 2d MEB as the FECC OIC and Technical Information Operations Officer.  In 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Kulisz reported to II MIG as the Technical IO Officer and Deputy Information Warfare Coordinator.  In 2019, Lieutenant Colonel Kulisz reported to 2d Reconnaissance Battalion to serve as the Executive Officer.  In 2020, he reported to I MEF Information Group as the Information Warfare Coordinator. On 4 June 2021, Lieutenant Colonel Kulisz took command of 1st Intelligence Battalion, where he currently serves.
