I Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) Information Group (I MIG) provides administrative, training, and logistical support while in CONUS and forward deployed to the I MEF and I MEB Command Elements. Additionally, function as Higher Headquarters for the four Major Subordinate Elements in order to allow I MEF CE to execute warfighting functions in support of service and COCOM initiatives as required.

Plan and direct, collect process, produce and disseminate intelligence, and provide, counterintelligence support to the MEF Command Element, MEF major subordinate commands, subordinate Marine Air Group Task Force(MAGTF), and other commands as directed

Advisory # 13-001 - I MEF (FWD) reactivates for upcoming deployment to Afghanistan

21 Oct 2013 | CAMP PENDLETON, Calif.

Marines with I Marine Expeditionary Force will conduct an activation ceremony for the I MEF (Forward) command Wednesday. 
 
Brig. Gen. Daniel Yoo, commanding general, I MEF (Fwd), and Sgt. Maj. Douglas Berry, sergeant major, I MEF (Fwd), will uncase the unit’s battle colors during the ceremony.
 
Lt. Gen. John A. Toolan, commanding general, I MEF, will attend and deliver remarks.
 
I MEF (Fwd) will deploy to Helmand province, southwest Afghanistan, early 2014, and take over responsibility and command of Regional Command (Southwest) from II Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of Camp Lejeune, N.C.
 
I MEF (Fwd) transferred authority of RC (SW) to II MEF, February 28, 2013.
 
Media should RSVP to imefpublicaffairs@usmc.mil NLT 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.
 
Media should arrive at the Camp Pendleton Main Gate NLT 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013.
 
Interviews with Marines will be offered at the conclusion of the ceremony.
